Pernicious globalization
Even a religious globalizer has to admit doubts. How to ignore the plight of displaced peasant farmers, or the tragic local oligarchs, struggling valiantly to preserve their monopolies against free trade? But try this on: imagine a wedding, just west of Rio, at which the Brazilians are teetotal evangelical Christians, can't dance to samba, and jump up and down to rock anthems. The guests from the Midwest felt right at home.
