Walk-by piracy

Over at Slate, Paul Boutin judges the personal legal risks to internet users downloading pirated music. He says the record industry has 1,600 subpoenas in the pipeline, to force ISPs to identify IP addresses of participants in filesharing systems. But what if one has an wireless access point attached to the internet connection, open to neighbors and passers-by? What, me, a music thief? It must have been that guy loitering with the laptop outside my front door.
