The Planet · Sure, internet traffic increases on election day. Particularly if everyone's hunting for exit poll numbers on Wonkette, our politics site. But you'd have thought the hosting companies would know that by now. Instapundit and other blogs say Hosting Matters has been working furiously to get their sites back up online. I can't say that about The Planet, our provider. The company has been extremely unresponsive. First, telling us there was nothing to be done. Then, that the site was up, when it wasn't for most users. Then their head of legal saying they would sue if we dissed them. We're moving as soon as we have an alternative. I advise any high-traffic site to avoid The Planet.

UPDATE: A WEB SITE MANAGER SUGGESTS:

> Subject: rackspace
>
> has been amazing today for us... respond to online trouble tickets
> within minutes and pick up the phone asap... they are a bit
> pricey, but
> def. worth it
